MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Kharif Moong sowing in the country down compared to previous year.
According to most recent sowing data released by agriculture department, Moong acreage in the country as on August 9 weak by -3.88% at 29.96 lakh hectares against 31.17 lakh hectares same period a year ago.
Acreage decreased in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra amid scanty rainfall and poor realization prompted farmers to shift to other better alternative. However, increases in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh amid average rainfall reported.
The country has of crop in 2016-17 with kharif area sown was said to be at 33.96 lakh hectares.
