MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Cotton planting reached 12.48 lakh ha as of June 7, down 11.23 percent compared to same period last year at 14.06 lakh ha according to Ministry of Agriculture.
Cotton planting has progressed 10.42 percent of the total normal area(5 year avg) at 119.75 lakh ha and remained below 12.29 percent from the normal area as on date at 14.23 lakh ha showing signs of slow planting.
Cotton sowing in Haryana and Punjab almost completed, while planting is making good progress in Rajasthan. Farmers in other states are busy in preparation of field for cotton and likely to start sowing in next few days.
Following data is the state wise cotton acreage report as on June 7. The weekly report is compiled by Directorate of Cotton Development, Nagpur and released by Ministry of Agriculture, India.
