Chana Gains At Major Spot Markets

Mumbai (Commodities control) – Chana prices gained on Monday at major markets following firm cues from futures and fresh millers buying activities at lower rates.

Despite, nafed is holding major stock but not active to liquidate procured stock at lower rates and unconfirmed report of Nafed has increased base prices of Chana to sell had also supported prices.

Balance stock with Nafed under PSS as on 28 November 2019 is around 1640540.35 MT. 10 Lakh MT Chana Reserved For Supply To State Governments.

However, actual demand in chana dal and besan from wholesale/retailer counters was reported limited due to sufficient availability and liquidity crunch.

Chana for December delivery on National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), settled higher 1.1 percent or Rs 50 at Rs 4,437/100kg. Earlier, in the day, the contract hovered in the range of 4,360 and 4,486.

Open interest for NCDEX December contract decreased to 30440 lots against 33350 lots.

On other hand, open interest for January contract increased to 30720 lots against 27580 lots.

Open interest of top 10 trading clients in the long side was 36900 MT whereas the short position of top ten clients was 36840 MT. The net position of top 10 clients was net long by 60 MT.

Chana stocks at NCDEX accredited warehouses stood at 7644 metric tonnes (Indore: 30, Bikaner 5,236, Jaipur 2,378) as on 1st December, similar metric tonnes in the previous session, the exchange data showed.

Australia origin Chana in ready business at Mumbai moved higher by Rs 50 at Rs 4,250/100kg amid millers trade and also due to very limited availability.

Similarly, Burma origin chana gained by Rs 50 at Rs 4,200/100Kg.

Tanzania origin Chana also up by Rs 50 at Rs 4,200/100Kg.

Ethiopia/Sudan/Russia/Burma origin kabuli chana traded firm by Rs 25-50/100Kg at the Mumbai amid fresh buying from besan flour millers at lower rates and following firm trend in Chana.
