MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Spot pepper prices continued to remain steady at the major Kochi market in Kerala on Friday amid sluggish trade.

Pepper prices have been stable at Rs 353/kg (garbled) and at Rs 333/kg (ungarbled) at the Kochi market for the last one week.

Actually there is hardly 5-7 tonnes of arrival in the market. Farmers are selling pepper directly from the field as they are getting better prices than the market yard. They are also saving their freight cost by selling their produce directly from the field.

At the same time, there are no big buyers in the spot this year with the hope of increasing production.
