MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Spot pepper prices remained steady at the major Kochi market in Kerala on Friday amid average trade.

The price of garbled was at Rs 356/kg, while ungarbled ruled at Rs 336/kg.

According to traders, trade in the market yard is sluggish due to selling from farmers in the local market at cheap prices. The new pepper ruled at around Rs 320/kg.

Meanwhile, the traders have shown interest in buying black pepper of poor quality lying in the warehouses. In order to protect from frequent rains and floods, some stock of black pepper was kept in the warehouses of other cities, where its quality is said to be a little inferior. According to traders, warehousing companies want to sell around 60-70 tonnes of pepper.
