MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Cotton prices fell by Rs 100-150 per candy at major markets in lower Rajasthan on Saturday amid sluggish trade and on lower demand.

Arrivals today stood at 2,500 bales from 5,000 bales on Friday.

According to traders, the weather in the area has been very bad for two days. Rain and hail have also occurred at many places. Even today there is a cloud in the sky. The cold has increased after the rain. Hence the trade is very sluggish. There are no buyers in the market. Because of this, there is pressure on prices despite the decrease in arrivals.

The price of 28-29.5MM cotton in Marwar offered at Rs 37,100-38,700/candy. 27-28MM in Mewar also ruled at Rs 37,100-38,700/candy. While the price of 29-29.5MM in Alwar was at Rs 38,100-38,800/maund.

Kapas here traded at Rs 4,800-5,500 per quintal, while cotton seed quoted at Rs 2,700-2,800/quintal.
