MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – Canada and Australia origin Masoor gained at Kolkata market, on Wednesday, amid mill buying support.

On the other hand, Canada White Pea declined due to dull trade activity.

Canada crimson variety Masoor vessel delivery traded higher by Rs 50-75 to Rs 5,250-5,275/100Kg as per quality. Similarly, Australia origin nipper and nugget varieties traded higher at Rs 5,600/100kg and Rs 5,500, respectively.

On the other hand, Canada White pea slipped by Rs 100 at Rs 6,150/100Kg.

However, activity was reported to be still slow due to shortage of labour along with transportation problems amid nationwide lockdown.

As per government directive, only 10 percent millers have started crushing raw pulses, ramping up pulses production and the logistics of getting them to retailers.

State Government is keeping a close watch on prices of pulses. Millers have to give daily basis report of their sales/purchases.

Trade is of the view that demand deterioration in poultry products is likely to result in increased consumption of pulses, to compensate for protein requirements. The fear of rapidly spreading Corona virus has halved the consumption of poultry and meats.

Chana for April delivery on National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), was trading 0.2% or Rs 6 weak at Rs 4,095/100kg. Earlier in the day, the contract hovered in the range of Rs 4,087 and 4,143.
