Red Chilli Heats up in Guntur, Warangal amid Strong Export Demand

Mumbai (Commodities Control) - Red chilli prices head higher in Guntur mandi of Andhra Pradesh and Warangal mandi of Telangana despite higher arrivals in both the mandis.

Prices upped Rs 3-10 per Kg in Guntur mandi amid arrivals of 80,000 bags. Singenta and 273 varieties of chilli were quoted Rs 10 higher at Rs 115-155 and Rs 120-150 per Kg, respectively. 4884 and export-quality Teja gained Rs 8 each, while No.5, DD and 334 were priced higher by Rs 5 at Rs 120-150, Rs 125-160 and Rs 105-132 per Kg, respectively.


It is to be noted that Warangal registered arrivals of nearly 10,000 bags on 21st September. Teja variety rose the most at Rs 140-165 per Kg, up Rs 8. Meanwhile Tomato and Wonderhot shot up Rs 5 and Re 1 each at Rs 140-170 and Rs 135-161 per Kg, respectively.

hortage of superior quality chilli in the market and demand from export destinations like Bangladesh, China and Sri Lanka is supporting prices.
