Mustard Seed Jumps Over Rs. 100/Q To Breach Mark Of Rs. 6200, Oil Soars Too

NEW DELHI (Commodities control) Mustard seed prices soared Rs. 100 per quintal in single day and breached Rs. 6200 per quintal in Jaipur. Declining arrival and increased buying from millers and stockists were responsible for steep price rise. Today the oil seed gained Rs. 105 to Rs. 6225-6230 per quintal in Jaipur. Mustard oil and oil cake also witnessed heavy surge in prices.

According to the traders, Mustard seed and other edible oils gained tracking positive cues from futures and strong buying from millers and stockists amid depleting arrivals. Total arrival of mustard seed
was 85,000 quintal in all the major producing areas. Mustard seed rose to Rs. 6225-6230 per quintal from earlier prices of Rs. 6120-6125 per quintal in Jaipur Mustard oil also moved up at Rs. 1227-1228 in Jaipur and Rs. 1217-1218 per 10 kg in adjoining areas. Earlier, the oil was sold at Rs. 1214-1215 in Jaipur and Rs. 1204-1205 per 10 kg in adjoining areas. Mustard oil cake rose to Rs. 2625-2630 per quintal. Earlier, It was priced at Rs. 2615-2620 per quintal.

Total arrival was 85,000 quintal in across the country. State wise arrival- Rajasthan 50,000, MP 5,000, UP 10,000, HP 5,000, Gujarat 5000 and other states 10,000 bags.

Rajasthan’s smaller mandis were receiving good quantity of mustard seed. Mustard prices was ruling at lower level for unconditioned oilseed. However, these mandis also registered impressive price rise. Mustard seed traded in Sriganganagar at Rs. 5000-5542, Raisinghnagar Rs. 5460-5675, Rawala Rs. 5550-5600, Gajsinghnagar Rs. 5680-5731 and Adampur Rs. 5680 per quintal.

Futures market also witnessed uptrend today. Mustard November contract gained Rs.14 to Rs. 6083 per quintal. December contract steadied at Rs. 6036 per quintal. January contract was up Rs. 2 to settle at Rs. 5931 per quintal. February contract settled up Rs. 39 at Rs. 5770 per quintal.
