MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – Canada crimson variety at Mumbai, Kolkata, Hazira and Mundra port along with Australia Masoor in Mumbai and Kolkata were unchanged, on Saturday, amid thin buying.
Availability of imported raw and processed Masoor stocks, thin offtake in processed Masoor has pressurised the sentiments.
On other hand, domestic Masoor weakened by Rs 25-100/100Kg, as per quality, at selected markets of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh amid dull mill buying.
Sowing is progressing well and was higher 8.44% to 13.11 lakh Ha as on Dec 4 Vs 12.09 lakh Ha same period last year due to favourable weather conditions.
Production of Australia Masoor is seen increasing by 15% to 6.16 lakh tonnes during the year 2020-21, according to ABARES crop report December 2020. Similarly, area planted to Masoor is higher by 2% to 368,000 hectares.
As per Kolkata-based trader, one vessel carrying around 24,000 MT Masoor from Canada is expected to arrive in a couple of days at Kolkata port. Meanwhile, vessel is discharging its cargo at Bangladesh.
Another vessel carrying around 30,000-32,000 Mt Masoor from Canada is expected to arrive on 7-8th December at Kolkata port.
