Masoor harvest in US expected to drop 31%

Mumbai, 13 Sep (Commoditiescontrol) – Masoor harvest in the United States is expected to drop 31% from last year to 231,000 MT, according to the latest USDA production estimates.

United States Masoor was revised 22% upward from initial estimates to 711,000 acres, while the harvested area is expected to end up at 667,000 acres. This compares to 528,000 seeded acres last year, but remains below the recent five year average of 766,200.

Despite the jump in plantings, production is expected to slide from 336,000 to 231,000 MT.

The average yield is expected to be 763 pounds per acre, down 679 pounds from last year.
