Mumbai, 23 Sep (Commoditiescontrol) – Burma Urad declined by Rs 25-50/100Kg at Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi on Thursday due to dull trade as offtake in Urad dal reported negligible, ongoing arrivals of new Kharif crop, imports from overseas.

Moreover, Nafed is liquidating its old stock in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

However, there are reports that quality and yield is likely to be affected due to rains during harvesting in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Moisture content is higher and dagi quality in new-crop arriving in the market.

Weather was cleared from last couple of days in UP-MP. .If weather remain clear for 8-10 days than good quality arrivals of new Urad from Budani Madawara and Mahrauni in Lalitpur district began from 1st week of October.

Still no damage to Urad crop was reported at Kota market of Rajasthan. Rain was witnessed from last couple of days. New Urad traded at Rs 5,500-6,600/100Kg with 20% moisture content quality. Arrivals expected from fortnight once weather get clear. Surrounding areas Jhalawar, Baran, Rawatbhata, Sangod, Chhabra near kota in Rajasthan were Urad producing belt.

Millers-traders were interested to purchase good quality new crop.

Maharashtra origin new kharif Urad traded unchanged at Rs 7,400/100Kg, as per quality for Guntur market of Andhra Pradesh.

New Urad traded lower, as per quality at Dudhani, Jalna, Udgir, Washim, Katni and Neemuch market amid thin mills purchase due to higher moisture content quality.

On other hand, new Urad traded higher, as per quality at Barshi, Latur, Ganj Basoda, and Kekri on local and outstation mills buying activity.

Old variety Urad remained weak at Indore and Lalitpur market on thin mills buying support.

On other hand, old variety Urad moved higher at Rs 5,500-6,200/100Kg at Jabalpur market on local and outstation mills purchase.

Urad FAQ-SQ varieties priced unchanged at Burma amid thin trade activities. Meanwhile, no buyers from India were active. Sellers were active as local currency ruled strong against US dollar. Already, direct container and breakbulk vessels carrying urad regularly depart from Yangon for Chennai.

The central government's move to extend free import policy for Urad up to 31st December 2021. Further, import consignments of these items with Bill of Lading issued on or before 31st December, 2021 shall not be allowed by Customs beyond 31st January 2022. Earlier the import policy of Free Imports was to expire on Oct. 31st (BL Date) with allowing arrivals till Nov. 30th.

The government laid down the procedure and modalities for import of 2.5 lakh tonnes of urad from Myanmar for FY 2021-22.

Arrivals of new kharif urad crop and regular imports from Burma are likely to keep price under pressure. But at the same time 50-60% damage in quality and yield in new kharif Urad crop due to heavy rains and pest attack will support the prices of good and dry quality Urad at lower levels.
