Mumbai, 23 Sep (Commoditiescontrol) – Canada crimson variety at Mumbai, Kolkata, Hazira, Mundra and Kandla port along with Australia Masoor in Mumbai and Kolkata were almost stable, on Thursday amid limited mills purchase and overseas supplies.

Moreover, India has allowed one time import of Masoor from Russia for a period of six months.

However, higher prices in international market on apprehension of lower crop output in Canada and USA, likely to support Masoor prices at lower rates.

As per market sources, Nafed has purchased 500 MT imported Masoor at Rs 7,650/100Kg from Delhi and 500 MT at Rs 7,600 from Kolkata.

Domestic Masoor dropped by Rs 100-200/100Kg, as per quality, at Indore, Bina, Dewas, Ganj Basoda, Kareli, Vidisha, Bareilly and Kanpur market on slack buying activity.

On other hand, commodity moved higher by Rs 100/100Kg at Katni and Orai market due to mills buying on immediate requirement for crushing.

In Delhi, Canada-Madhya Pradesh origin Masoor fell each by Rs 150 at Rs 7,450/100Kg and Rs 7,650, respectively as millers refrained to purchase at prevailing rates due to dull offtake in processed Masoor.

Canada crimson variety Masoor No 2 priced at $950 per ton on cnf basis Nhava Sheva and $970 cnf basis Kolkata.

Vessel M V MELODY from Australia had discharged 1,128 MT till date and 8,920 MT balance to discharge at Mumbai port. Vessel M V MELODY carrying 10048.180 MT of Australia Masoor.

Vessel M V PERSUES carrying approximately 22,550 MT of Canada red Masoor is arrived at Mundra port on 8th September.

Masoor prices are likely to remain range-bound due to consistent supply from overseas markets but reports of lower crop in US and Canada crop and higher MSP for upcoming Rabi Masoor crop in India to restrict down side. Current rainfall is said to be beneficial for upcoming rabi crop sowing, likely to begin from next month. Beneficial rains and higher prices received by farmer for plant year crop will lead to higher sowing in Masoor for upcoming Rabi crop. In near term this will boost Seed demand expected from October.
