Mumbai, 24 September (Commoditiescontrol): The CCI on Friday kept its rates of cotton sales stable for the fourth consecutive day. It is to be noted that the corporation on Monday cut its rates by Rs 300 per candy.

Sources said that the picking of kapas has already started in most of the states, or the crop is almost ready. In such a situation, the arrival of new kapas will be delayed due to the recent rains in the producing states. If there is more rain, then the quality will be affected along with the productivity of kapas. The daily arrivals of new kapas in North Indian states were reduced due to bad weather, while the prices improved slightly in the spot market.

According to the CCI, the selling price of 27/28 mm cotton for the 2020-21 crop season remained stable at Rs 50,600 to 51,000 per candy on Friday in Sirsa, Haryana, North India. Similarly, the selling price of 27/28 mm cotton of crop season 2019-20 in Sirsa was stable at Rs 49,300 to Rs 49,700 per candy. In Sriganganagar, Rajasthan, the selling price of 27/28 mm cotton for the 2020-21 crop season stood at Rs 51,400 to Rs 51,800 per candy. While, the selling price of 27/28 mm cotton for the 2020-21 crop season also remained constant at Rs 52,200 to 53,300 per candy in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

Sources revealed that the arrival of new kapas crop has started in most of the states. While spinners are holding back sufficient old stock of kapas. So, they want to utilise their old stock before the arrival of new crop. Hence, the buying by mills is also expected to remain limited.
