JAIPUR, Oct 25 (Commoditiescontrol) - Coriander prices improved further by Rs 150-250 per quintal in the mandis of producing states on Monday, underpinned by the strong demand ahead of Diwali. The bullish phase seems to be continuing this week as well as procurement from the buyers of consuming states in the mandis remained in full swing. However the stockists have kept themselves away for now.

In Rajasthan, 3000 quintals of whole coriander were procured from the buyers of South and Maharashtra in Ramganj and Kota mandis, comprises 1800 quintal of Eagle and 1200 quintal of Badami. Upper grade coriander prices also showed a jump due to fresh demand. There was a jump of Rs 100 per quintal in coriander cold storage today. Moisture in coriander also remained in the range of 8 to 9 percent.

The week started with a jump in coriander prices. The effect of fresh demand emanating from the mills of the South was visible on the mandi auction. As Diwali nears, farmers are also approaching the market to get the crop cashed. Demand on the mandi auctions and procurement from the big spice mills supported the uptrend in coriander. During the auction, there was a firmness in coriander prices throughout the day.

Today, 75 thousand bags of coriander arrived in the mandis across the country as against 68 thousand bags on Saturday. After several days. in most of the mandis including Jaipur, Ramganj, Kota of Rajasthan, there was a rise in coriander prices throughout the session. The buyers made purchases for the mills of Maharashtra, Bengal and South in Kota and Ramganj mandis. The rise in prices was due to fresh demand. Demand from spice mills remained buoyant. Moreover demand for coriander from retail stores also picked up.

The arrival of coriander in the spice markets of Rajasthan stood at 21,000 bags. A total 24,000 bags arrived in the mandis of Gujarat, 28,000 bags in the mandis of Madhya Pradesh. In Rajasthan's Ramganj mandi 5,000 bags, Baran 2000 bags, Kota 1200 bags and Jaipur 1500 bags of coriander arrived. In a bag of coriander, the weight remained up to 40 kg.
