Guntur, January 21(Commoditycontrol) Chilli prices gained on Friday amid strong demand and shortfall in regular supply. Most varieties of red chilli were priced firm in the markets of Guntur and Warangal due to limited arrivals but strong buying spree.
Fresh arrivals attracted good demand in the benchmark market of Guntur.
Even though the qualities are immature, stockiest and processores are seen interested in buying fresh crop, said a trade analyst.
Demand is presently good in varieties like 334, Syngenta byadgi and No.5 with both local and export demand, he added.
Being Friday, arrivals were limited today. Around 45000 bags of new arrivals and 20000 bags of old ones were there in the market of Guntur.
At Warangal, demand was firm as very good quality of stuff was available in the market.
Demand for Teja and 341 was very high. Prices of Teja gained Rs 15 and 341 Rs 10 per kilo.
Deluxe qualities tomato gained Rs 20, New qualities of W.Hot were available today.
