NEW DELHI, Jan 25 (Commoditiescontrol) - There was a fall in the price of mustard in the mandis of Rajasthan and other producing states on Tuesday as the concern about the mustard crop has eased with the turning of weather sunny in the mustard growing areas of Rajasthan. Traders said that if there is good sunshine for the next 10-15 days in all the producing areas, then the figure of mustard production can cross 120 lakh tonnes. But Haryana, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh and some areas of Delhi are still witnessing severe cold wave conditions with fog and frost. Along with mustard, there was also a softening trend in its oil and meal.
There was no trading in mustard contracts in futures trading. While limited movement was seen in in the contracts of soybean and soyoil refined. After the overnight fall in soybean and soyoil on the CBOT, there was a slight improvement in soyoil in electronic trading. Malaysian palm oil and Dalian edible oil complex remained sluggish.
Today in Jaipur, 42 percent condition mustard is being sold at Rs 8125-8150 per quintal (GST exclusive). Whereas in the last session, mustard was sold at Rs 8250-8275 per quintal. The daily arrival of mustard in mandis across the country increased from 1.35 lakh bags (80 kg per bag) to 1.50 lakh bags. According to trade sources, 80 percent of the selling is coming from stockists and traders at this time.
Palm oil for February delivery at Kandla Port declined from $1,450 to $1430 a tonne. Soyoil Degum February delivery fell from $1471 to $1450 per tonne. Crude palm oil is being sold at Kandla port in Indian rupees at Rs 1153 and soyoil Degum at Rs 1170 per ten kg. Whereas in the last session, crude palm oil was sold at the port at Rs 1163 and soyoil Degum at Rs 1185 per ten kg. There was no trading in Mustard on the NCDEX. While limited movement was seen in soybean and soyoil contracts. New positions are not allowed in many essential commodities including edible oils, oilseeds.
The weather has turned sunny in Kota division and some other areas of Rajasthan. Mustard crop needs bright sunlight at this time. With the clearing up of the season in the largest producing state Rajasthan, the concern about the mustard crop has eased. However, other areas of North India are witnessing dense fog-frost and cold wave conditions. If the weather remains good, mustard production can break all the previous records.
Mustard oil is being sold in Jaipur at Rs 1673-1674 and in other mandis at Rs 1663-1664 per 10 kg. In the last session, oil was sold in Jaipur at Rs 1691-1692 and in other mandis at Rs 1681-1682 per 10 kg. Mustard meal is being sold at Rs 2925-2950 per quintal. Whereas in the last trading session, mustard meal was sold at Rs 2970-2975 per quintal.
The arrival of mustard has increased from 1.35 lakh bags to 1.50 lakh bags across the country. Mustard arrival was 65 thousand bags in Rajasthan, 25 thousand bags in Madhya Pradesh, 25 thousand bags in Uttar Pradesh, 5 thousand bags in Himachal Pradesh, 5 thousand bags in Gujarat and 20 thousand bags in other states.
