New Delhi, 18 May (Commoditiescontrol) Sugar prices were unchanged in the benchmark market of Delhi on Wednesday amid weak demand and supply.
Ex-mill rates of sugar in the Uttar Pradesh were at Rs 3450-3550 per quintal while wholesale prices were quoted Rs 3720-3820 per quintal. Retail prices were Rs 40-42 per kg.
As per the traders, market is facing with cash crunch, that’s why stockiest, wholesalers as well as the retailers are buying sugar as per their day-day requirements.
Arrivals in the national capital market were estimated 6000-7000 bags while daily consumption normally remains in May around 15000 bags.
Sushil Kumar, a local trader, said, “Millers are seen reluctant to liquidate their stocks. At the same time, demand is also down due to cash crunch.”
