Indore, 19 May (Commoditiescontrol) Barring masur, the majority of pulse seeds in Indore mandis traded low with availability outstripping demand. Moong (best quality) in Indore today declined by Rs 150 at Rs 6350-Rs 6450 a quintal amidst rise in the arrival of new crop and acute absence of buying from the millers, while moong (average) ruled at Rs 5800-Rs 6100.

Given, enthusiastic crop report, rise in area under moong cultivation in Madhya Pradesh this year, the downtrend in moong will likely to continue in the coming days unless the Madhya Pradesh government starts purchasing moong from the state farmers on the MSP.

``The state government this year has announced procurement of moong on MSP but so far no headway has been made in this regard. As a result of this, farmers are constrained to sell moong and other pulse seeds far below the MSP', Vora added.

Urad, tur and chana ruled steady on subdued demand. In Indore mandis, urad (best quality) today was quoted at Rs 7000 a quintal, urad (average) - Rs 5500-Rs 6200, while urad (inferior quality) ruled at Rs 2500-Rs 4500 a quintal. Amidst steady rise in the arrival of new summer urad in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat and decline in prices of imported urad on Chennai port and expected arrival of a consignment of imported urad from Myanmar in the coming days, urad prices may decline further in the coming days.

Tur (Maharashtra) in Indore market today was quoted at Rs 6200-Rs 6300, tur (Karnataka new) at Rs 6500-Rs 6600, while tur (Nimari) ruled at Rs 5500-Rs 6000 a quintal. Chana (Kanta) in Indore ruled stable at Rs 4800-Rs 4825 a quintal on increased availability and weak buying from millers.

Masur on the other hand gained Rs 125 a quintal on higher import parity. Given dependency on imported masur and diminishing domestic stock, future trend in masur appears bullish, said Sanjay Agrawal, another pulse trader from Indore.
