Maharashtra CM says - 15 Lakh Ha suffered crop loss from heavy rains

Mumbai, 10 Aug (Commoditiescontrol): Incessant rains across Maharashtra has caused widespread damage to the standing crop. As per Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the standing Kharif crops spread across 15 Lakh Hectares have suffered extensive damage due to heavy rains in July and August so far.

Indian Meterological Bureau has warned more rains in the state over the next 2-3 days, which is likely to cause further damage.

Shinde informed media that the state government has decided to extend relief to farmers considering the losses suffered by the from heavy rains. He informed of extending cash relief of of Rs 13,600 per ha, which is almost double the norms set under NDRF. Further, the farmers can claim relief for up to 3 Ha.
