Mumbai, August 16 (Commoditiescontrol) Indian spices have attracted good demand in the overseas market and their domestic consumption is also expected to remain firm during festive season, hence prices of most spices like chilli, cumin seed and coriander seed are likely to see uptrend this week, a trade analyst said.
Red chilli
Red chilli prices remained mixed last week and firm tone is expected this week on strong demand from local as well the exporters.

Cumin seed prices remained mixed last week in the physical markets as some of the varieties failed to attract demand, however, overall mood of the market was bullish amid improved buying after a considerable fall in the prices of spices. However,
Cumin seed futures expiring this month gained over 2% last week and the front month contract also gained after a 4% jump in the last session of the week amid short-covering.

Coriander prices also remained mixed last week amid weak activities as two major festivals- Moharram and Rakshabandhan fell last week, The processors as well as the traders were not active in the market. Further, it is a truncated week as trading remained suspended on account of Independence Day on Monday.
Coriander seed futures settled slightly up on a weekly basis on Friday.

However, demand for turmeric is expected to increase from October but after a big fall witnessed in past month, recovery is seen but prices are expected to remain in narrow range.
