Mumbai, July 18 (CommoditiesControl): Pepper prices in major domestic markets have fallen further as buyers remain sluggish due to a lack of export demand. Prices have dropped by another Rs 200 per quintal. Local sources indicate limited supply as large farmers and stockists hesitate to sell. In Cochin, garbled pepper is priced at Rs 67,600 per quintal, while ungarbled pepper is at Rs 65,600. In Karnataka, pepper prices range between Rs 65,600 and Rs 67,800 per quintal.
In Vietnam, pepper prices have decreased by VND 2,000 per kg, now ranging from VND 147,000 to VND 149,000 per kilogram. Port congestion is exerting pressure on prices, with lower export demand anticipated despite limited supplies. Prices are expected to increase in the coming days due to the lack of supply. Global prices are generally stable, except in Indonesia, where prices have slightly increased.
