New Delhi, July 18 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices have fallen for the fifth consecutive session due to lackluster buying and lower export demand. Favorable weather conditions with good rains reported over the past 18-20 sessions have further aided crop development, adding to the downward pressure on prices.
The average price per kilogram has decreased to Rs 2,087-2,099, down from Rs 2,121-2,130 per kg the previous week due to sluggish demand. However, the highest price per kilogram rose to Rs 2,850, up from Rs 2,512 in the previous session.
Arrivals surged to 85,258 kg from 45,444 kg due to higher arrivals in Vandanmetu. The offtake increased to 78,237 kg, up from 41,878 kg in the previous session. However, the reported offtake rate was 91.8%, slightly down from 92.2% in the previous session, indicating subdued buying activity. For the first time in a month, the offtake rate fell below 95% for the fifth session, highlighting the continued weak sentiment in the market.
Grade-specific rates remained stable. Prices for 7 mm grades ranged between Rs 2,080 and Rs 2,160 per kg, Rs 2,280 to Rs 2,360 for grades 7-8 mm, and Rs 2,480 to Rs 2,660 for grades 8 mm and above.
