Mumbai, 3 Aug (Commoditiescontrol): Peanut prices continued to trend lower today, dropping by Rs 10 per 20 kg. Traders attribute this softness to weak demand for edible oil, leading to reduced buying from crushing mills and further price declines.

In Gondal Mandi, where operations will be closed for the next two days due to Sunday and the first Monday of the Hindu month of Sawan on August 5, peanut prices fell by Rs 10. The market will now depend on the arrivals expected on Tuesday. Traders are closely watching the supply from the Mainpuri line in Uttar Pradesh, which could influence prices.

Today, Gondal Mandi saw an arrival of 5,000 bags, with 4,751 bags being traded. The price for average quality peanuts ranged from Rs 1,131 to Rs 1,191 per 20 kg, while the best quality fetched between Rs 1,156 and Rs 1,316 per 20 kg. There were 3-4 truckloads of arrivals from Mainpuri.

In Rajkot Mandi, around 3,000 sacks arrived today. The prices for average quality peanuts ranged from Rs 1,090 to Rs 1,180 per 20 kg, and the best quality sold for Rs 1,080 to Rs 1,220 per 20 kg. Across the Saurashtra region, approximately 10,000 sacks of peanuts were brought to market.

In North Gujarat, Disa Mandi saw a modest arrival of 11 bags, with an average price of Rs 1,111 per 20 kg. Panthawada Mandi reported an arrival of 450 bags, with prices ranging from Rs 700 to Rs 1,244 per 20 kg. Palanpur Mandi recorded 185 bags, with trading prices between Rs 750 and Rs 1,250 per 20 kg.

The peanut market's outlook remains uncertain, with traders watching closely for developments in demand and supply in the coming days.
