MUMBAI, 5 Aug (Commoditiescontrol): On the first Monday of the holy month of Shravan, the primary peanut markets in Saurashtra, including the main center at Gondal Mandi, were closed. This closure extended to nearly all markets in the region, with only two to three markets, including those in Rajkot, remaining operational. Similarly, in North Gujarat, markets such as Deesa and Panthawada were also shut due to the observance of the first Monday of Shravan.
As a result of these widespread closures, there was minimal trading activity in the peanut markets today, and prices remained stable. Only the Rajkot market saw an influx of approximately 2,000 bags. The average quality peanuts were priced between Rs 1,090-1,175 per 20 kg, while the best quality peanuts were priced between Rs 1,080-1,237 per 20 kg. Across the entire Saurashtra region, the total arrival of peanuts was around 2,500 bags.
