MUMBAI, 28 Aug (Commoditiescontrol): The Indian subcontinent is likely to experience above-normal rainfall between September and November as early stages of La Niña are anticipated to develop, according to the World Meteorological Organization's (WMO) global seasonal update released on Monday.

The WMO also noted that the Indian Ocean Dipole index is expected to return to near-normal levels during this period. As a result, India could see 50-60% above-normal rainfall, according to the report.

The global weather agency further highlighted that the persistence of widespread above-normal sea-surface temperatures across all ocean basins, except the near-equatorial eastern Pacific Ocean, may lead to above-normal temperatures over nearly all land areas. However, a few regions may escape this widespread warmth, including areas south of about 40 degrees latitude in South America, the southwestern coast of North America, regions near the Bering Sea, and the interior western part of the Indian subcontinent.
