Mumbai, September 06 (CommoditiesControl): Prices for small cardamom have remained relatively stable, fluctuating between INR 2150 and INR 2300 per kilogram over the past 20-22 sessions.
Today's average price per kilogram was reported at INR 2235-2238, slightly down from INR 2240 in the previous session. The highest price observed increased from INR 2580 to INR 2910 per kilogram.
Arrivals surged significantly to 107,265 kg, up from 39,683 kg in the previous session, due to auctions being held at two centers. Of the arrivals, the offtake rose to 102,352 kg from 36,648 kg, resulting in an improved offtake rate of 95.4% compared to 92.4% previously. Dealers are estimated to account for about 25% of the market.
For grade-specific prices, the following ranges were reported:
- Grades 7 mm: INR 2150 to INR 2220 per kilogram
- Grades 7-8 mm: INR 2360 to INR 2440 per kilogram
- Grades 8 mm or higher: INR 2600 to INR 2720 per kilogram
Prices are expected to remain steady in the near term. As harvesting progresses and arrivals continue to increase over the coming week, stability in prices is anticipated. Additionally, existing stocks with farmers from the previous year are likely to help maintain price levels.
