New Delhi, September 11 (CommoditiesControl): On Wednesday, mentha oil prices displayed a mixed tone as buying activity improved. In the physical markets, prices remained stable in Chandausi, while Barabanki saw a modest uptick, recovering some losses from the previous session.
In Chandausi, mentha oil prices were flat, trading between Rs 1,005 and Rs 1,007 per kg. Conversely, in Barabanki, prices increased by Rs 3 to reach Rs 965 per kg, reflecting a slight recovery in the market.
In the futures market on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the September contract for mentha oil was firm, showing an increase of Rs 6.5 to settle at Rs 952.90 per kg. This contract had an open interest of 598 and a trading volume of 79. On the other hand, the October futures contract experienced a slight decline, down by Rs 1.10 to Rs 964.50 per kg, with an open interest of 280 and a volume of 29.
Overall, while physical market prices showed stability or slight gains, the futures contracts presented a mixed picture with a firm current month contract and a slight decline for the next month's contract.
Mentha Oil contract for SEP delivery settled at Rs 952.9/quintal showing an rise of Rs 6.5 over previous close of Rs 946.4/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 945.5-953.8 for the day. Open interest decreased by -6 MT to 598 MT, while trading volume decreased by -98 to 79 MT.
Mentha Oil contract for OCT delivery settled at Rs 964.5/quintal showing an fall of Rs -1.1 over previous close of Rs 965.6/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 962-968 for the day. Open interest increased by 6 MT to 280 MT, while trading volume decreased by -46 to 29 MT.
Mentha Oil contract for NOV delivery settled at Rs 974/quintal showing an fall of Rs -2.3 over previous close of Rs 976.3/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 974-974 for the day. Open interest increased by 1 MT to 37 MT, while trading volume was simillar by 0 to 1 MT.
Currently The spread between SEP and OCT contract is -11.6 Rs/quintal.
