Mumbai, September 11 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices have shown a steady to firm sentiment, with prices largely remaining stable across various centers. Over the past month, cardamom prices have traded within the range of Rs 2,150 to Rs 2,300 per kilogram, though there is an anticipated potential for a downward breach of this range in the next 3-4 sessions.
Today's average price for small cardamom was reported between Rs 2,151 and Rs 2,186 per kilogram, an increase from the previous day's range of Rs 2,151 to Rs 2,153. Notably, the highest price per kilogram has decreased to Rs 2,494 from Rs 2,688 in the previous session.
Arrivals of small cardamom exceeded 100,000 kilograms, totaling 105,186 kg today, up from 79,664 kg in the previous session. Offtake also rose to 102,343 kg from 73,176 kg, resulting in an improved off-take rate of 97.3%, compared to 91.8% previously. This increase is attributed to strong demand and significant reductions in maximum prices, which have spurred higher off-take. Dealers reportedly hold approximately 20.0% of the market share.
Grade-specific prices have remained steady over the last 8-10 sessions, with minimal changes observed in bulk prices. Current rates are as follows:
- Grades 7 mm: Rs 2,150 to Rs 2,220 per kilogram
- Grades 7-8 mm: Rs 2,360 to Rs 2,440 per kilogram
- Grades 8 mm or higher: Rs 2,600 to Rs 2,720 per kilogram
Looking ahead, prices are expected to remain low due to the anticipated increase in arrivals as harvesting progresses. Additionally, reports of farmer stocks from the previous year are expected to contribute to price stabilization. Overall, while cardamom prices are currently steady, the market may experience downward pressure in the near future.
