MUMBAI, 14 Sep (Commoditiescontrol): The Saurashtra region continues to see a steady rise in the arrival of new peanuts, while inflows of old stock are also increasing. Today, prices for old peanuts jumped by ₹15-20 per 20 kg, driven by strong demand from millers for crushing purposes. However, prices for new peanuts remained stable due to limited demand from the edible seed market. Traders have expressed concerns about higher moisture levels in the new crop, which is affecting overall quality.
Market experts expect the arrival of new peanuts to increase further in the coming days.
Meanwhile, the government raising basic customs duty on imports of soybean, palm and sunflower oil has supported price rise in other oilseed.
At Gondal Mandi, about 15,000 bags of peanuts were reported today, including 6,994 bags of old stock and 7,914 bags of new peanuts. Average-quality peanuts were priced between ₹1,071-1,116 per 20 kg, while the best-quality lots fetched prices ranging from ₹1,091-1,191 per 20 kg. The new peanuts traded in the range of ₹1,001-1,336 per 20 kg.
In Rajkot Mandi, the arrival stood at around 5,500 bags. Average-quality peanuts were priced between ₹1,050-1,150 per 20 kg, while best-quality peanuts traded between ₹1,080-1,180 per 20 kg. Around 2,500 bags of new peanuts arrived at Rajkot, with prices ranging from ₹950-1,200 per 20 kg.
