MUMBAI, 14 Sep (Commoditiescontrol): The castor market in Gujarat saw firming prices today due to limited arrivals and robust demand from millers. Prices across the state increased by ₹5-10 per 20 kg. The slowdown in arrivals was attributed to the closure of several mandis in the Banaskantha region, following the observance of Agyaras.

Traders highlighted that for the next four months, shippers will need to rely on previously purchased stock through the billing system, as new supply is expected to remain constrained. The future direction of the market hinges on how arrivals develop in the coming days.

Today, total castor arrivals amounted to approximately 23,000 bags (1 bag = 35 kg), with 18,000 bags from Gujarat, 4,000 from Rajasthan, and 2,000 bags going directly to mills. Prices ranged between ₹1,205 and ₹1,220 per 20 kg.

The limited supply and steady demand from millers led to upward price adjustments. In the morning session, Jagana shippers quoted ₹1,247, which rose to ₹1,250 by the end of the day. Similarly, N.K. prices moved from ₹1,248 to ₹1,250, and Kandla prices fluctuated between ₹1,235-1,250 in the morning, finally closing at ₹1,240-1,250 per 20 kg.

In the castor oil segment, Kandla delivery prices for Reddy-Reddy started at ₹1,252-1,253 per 10 kg in the morning and climbed to ₹1,255-1,257 per 10 kg by the end of the session.
