Mumbai, 20 Sep 2024 (Commoditiescontrol):Moong prices remained largely stable across key trading hubs, though some markets experienced fluctuations due to local demand trends and produce quality. Demand for Moong dal remained limited .
In Karnataka, the market experienced mixed pricing due to slow arrivals of the new crop and weak demand, with quality concerns continuing to affect the market. While prices had risen recently in anticipation of increased festival demand, moong dal prices across markets remained mostly unchanged.
In Madhya Pradesh, prices stayed stable, except for Narsinghpur, which saw a ₹200 increase in its second consecutive session of gains. Other major markets, including Indore, Harda, Khirkiya, and Pipriya, reported steady prices. The limited demand for moong dal curbed aggressive buying, prompting cautious trading across regions.
In Rajasthan, markets maintained stability despite higher arrivals. Meanwhile, Karnataka showed mixed trends. Prices fell in Gadag, Bidar, and Bagalkot, while Sedam saw strengthening prices. Markets in Gulbarga and Yadgir reported unchanged price levels.
In Maharashtra, around 3,250 bags of moong with 16-21% moisture content were received, with prices ranging from ₹6,500 to ₹8,300 per quintal. However, buying activity remained sporadic and scattered.
Moong sowing for the Kharif season has increased by 3.97%, reaching 35.28 lakh hectares as of September 13, 2024.
Although prices remain firm on the expcationn of improved demand due to upcoming festivals, the expected arrival of Kharif crops and the upcoming auction of approximately 385,000 tons by MARKFED could apply downward pressure on prices in the coming weeks.
