New Delhi, September 20 (Commodities Control): Maize prices have shown stability to weakness due to ongoing pressure from the influx of new arrivals in major markets. In Maharashtra, Karnataka, and other South Indian cities, maize prices fluctuated between INR 25 and 50 per quintal.
In Nizamabad mandi, approximately 1,500 new bags of maize (moisture content of 14-22%) were delivered, with prices ranging from INR 1,746 to INR 2,602. This marks a decrease of INR 300 per quintal compared to the previous session. Clear weather conditions are expected to lead to a significant increase in arrivals in the near future.
Amalner mandi reported approximately 2,000 quintals of maize, with prices between INR 1,550 and INR 1,570 per quintal (moisture content of 30-35%). A starch-producing client from Chalisgaon placed an order at INR 2,250 for delivery on October 15 and INR 2,200 for the month of October. However, it remains uncertain whether this client will receive adequate supplies at those prices.
In Karnataka, new arrivals have surged, with Gokak's opening rate for buyers in the starch production sector set at INR 2,675 in the morning. Prices later dipped to INR 2,650 during the afternoon session amid strong selling activity.
In Tamil Nadu, buyers have lowered the price of maize to INR 2,650, reflecting a decrease of INR 400 from previous highs. Despite this, they continue to receive satisfactory supplies from Karnataka, suggesting that prices may continue to decline in Tamil Nadu in the coming days.
Overall, maize prices across South, Central, and Western India are expected to trend downward in the near future, influenced by the current market conditions and increased supply.
