MUMBAI, 4 Oct (Commoditiescontrol): Peanut arrivals continued to increase across Saurashtra and Gujarat on Friday, but traders expressed concerns over the high moisture content in the new supply. While there is a growing need for dry-quality peanuts, a significant portion of the arrivals is moisture-laden, contributing to limited trade. Additionally, sluggish demand in the peanut oil market is keeping prices stable.
Friday saw approximately 50,000 bags of peanuts arriving in Saurashtra-Gujarat. However, with demand remaining moderate, prices stayed firm despite the rise in supply.
In Gondal Mandi, around 22,000 bags (1 bag = 35 kg) were received, with trade volumes reaching 21,634 bags. Average-quality peanuts were priced between ₹1,156 and ₹1,356 per 20 kg, while best-quality peanuts traded between ₹1,071 and ₹1,191 per 20 kg.
Rajkot Mandi received 11,000 bags, with average-quality peanuts trading at ₹1,000 to ₹1,450 per 20 kg, and best-quality varieties priced between ₹880 and ₹1,195 per 20 kg.
In the Saurashtra region overall, about 40,000 bags arrived in various mandis.
In northern Gujarat’s Deesa Mandi, 2,074 bags of new peanuts arrived, with prices ranging from ₹1,050 to ₹1,457 per 20 kg. Palanpur Mandi received 398 bags, with prices between ₹921 and ₹1,420 per 20 kg, while Panthawada Mandi saw 1,715 bags arriving, with prices between ₹1,000 and ₹1,445 per 20 kg.
The market is expected to maintain its stable price trend in the near term unless demand increases significantly, particularly with the festive season approaching.
