Mumbai, 04 Oct 2024 (Commoditiescontrol): Chili prices across major markets saw a general decline, with high arrivals keeping pressure on the market. In Guntur, prices for Teja and Teja Deluxe remained stable, while other varieties dropped by Rs 5-10 per kg. Meanwhile, Teja prices in Khammam and Warangal fell by Rs 5 per kg, as arrivals remained robust.
Sources indicate that consistent high arrivals have maintained price stability for select varieties, such as Armor and 2043. Over the past three and a half months, Teja prices have fluctuated between Rs 155 and Rs 185 per kilogram.
Today's total arrivals were reported at 80,000 bags, 8,000 less than the previous session, signaling a dip in supply across all major markets. Guntur reported 60,000 bags, 10,000 fewer than the previous session, while Khammam and Warangal received 10,000 bags each, a slight increase of 2,000 bags from the previous session.
Looking ahead, increased demand coupled with reports of crop damage due to heavy rains is likely to drive up chili prices in the coming days. While end-user demand remains strong, warehouses are already full, which could limit any significant price surge until crop production figures are confirmed.
