Gujarat's Cumin Market Faces Slowdown, Prices Remain Stable

Ahmedabad, October 04 (CommoditiesControl): The cumin market in Gujarat is experiencing a slowdown today, attributed to low local demand and a holiday in China lasting until October 7, which has stifled export activities. As a result, the market is currently subdued, with farmers holding onto 20-25 percent of their cumin stocks in anticipation of a potential price rise in the future.

Traders reported that approximately 10,000 bags of cumin arrived in Unjha Mandi today. The prices for rough cumin ranged from Rs 4450 to Rs 4550 per 20 kg, while the best quality cumin fetched between Rs 4750 and Rs 4900 per 20 kg. Bombay Bold cumin was priced higher, at Rs 4950 to Rs 5200 per 20 kg.

In Gondal Mandi, the arrival of 1,383 bags saw prices between Rs 4801 and Rs 5021 per 20 kg. Rajkot Mandi recorded the arrival of around 1,800 bags, with prices ranging from Rs 4460 to Rs 4875.

Jeeraunjha contract for OCT delivery settled at Rs 26335/quintal showing an fall of Rs -70 over previous close of Rs 26405/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 26275-26620 for the day. Open interest decreased by -177 MT to 1512 MT, while trading volume increased by 324 to 738 MT.

Jeeraunjha contract for NOV delivery settled at Rs 25800/quintal showing an was simillar of Rs 0 over previous close of Rs 25800/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 25665-26040 for the day. Open interest increased by 360 MT to 1887 MT, while trading volume increased by 237 to 603 MT.

Jeeraunjha contract for DEC delivery settled at Rs 25600/quintal showing an fall of Rs -100 over previous close of Rs 25700/quintal,The contract moved in the range of Rs 25600-25600 for the day. Open interest increased by 30 MT to 87 MT, while trading volume decreased by -21 to 33 MT.

Currently The spread between OCT and NOV contract is 535 Rs/quintal.

Currently The spread between NOV and DEC contract is 200 Rs/quintal.

Currently The spread between OCT and DEC contract is 735 Rs/quintal.
