Mumbai, 04 Nov (Commoditiescontrol): In Monday's trading session, moong (green gram) prices declined in Delhi's benchmark market, while prices remained mostly steady across other major centers. Trading activity was limited as markets resumed after a week-long festival break, contributing to subdued demand in both moong and moong dal.
With market prices remaining below the Minimum Support Price (MSP), farmers have increasingly turned to government channels for sales.
Regional markets exhibited mixed trends: Gadag reported a slight price increase, while Gulbarga and Sedam saw stable rates. Yadgir, Bidar, and Bagalkot markets had no available quotes. In Delhi, moong from Rajasthan traded lower, ranging between ₹6,450 and ₹7,450 per quintal, while in Rajkot, Gujarat, no quotes were recorded for the Desi variety.
Maharashtra markets remained quiet, with no quotes from Jalgaon and steady prices in Latur, where 550 bags of moong were reported with moisture levels between 16% and 21%. Key markets in Madhya Pradesh, such as Indore, Harda, and Pipriya, also reported stable prices, with no available quotes from Narsinghpur and Khirkiya. In Rajasthan, Jaipur, Kishangarh, Merta, and Kekri maintained steady pricing.
Moong prices are expected to stay subdued due to post-festival demand lull and gradual increase in arrivals. However, the downside is likely limited as the market has been undergoing a correction over the past six months since reaching a high of around ₹9,000 ( Jaipur Desi moong). Continued government and stockist procurement should help cushion any major losses from current level.
