Mumbai, November 5 (Commodity Control): Chili prices exhibited mixed trends in the major markets of Guntur, Warangal, and Khammam. In Khammam, prices showed a decline as the market opened and closed yesterday. Guntur saw stable pricing, while Warangal experienced a slight recovery after recent declines.
The arrival of early-sown chili crops in small quantities in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka has added pressure on chili prices. In addition to the new arrivals, substantial stocks from the previous season remain in warehouses, a factor expected to keep prices subdued as the harvest season advances.
Today, total arrivals of chili across these markets reached 124,000 bags, a 31,000-bag increase over the previous session, with Khammam operational and Guntur recording higher arrivals. Guntur saw an influx of 100,000 bags, an increase of 10,000 bags compared to the last session. Warangal and Khammam each recorded 12,000 bags, reflecting a combined increase of 21,000 bags.
As harvesting progresses, prices are likely to face downward pressure, driven by increasing new crop arrivals and robust existing stocks in warehouses.
