Mumbai, November 13 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices continued their upward trend today, driven by robust demand and reduced arrivals. Recent adverse weather events, including landslides, floods, and excessive rainfall, have significantly affected production, further pressuring supply and pushing prices higher.
According to the latest auction data, the average cardamom price per kilogram has risen to between ₹2,686 and ₹2,716, exceeding the previous session’s range of ₹2,579 to ₹2,660. The maximum auction price has also increased, now reaching between ₹2,806 and ₹3,000 per kilogram.
Today’s arrivals were recorded at 113,261 kg, down from 124,631 kg in the previous session. Despite high demand, the auction offtake volume decreased slightly, from 123,629 kg to 111,850 kg, reflecting the supply constraints. The offtake rate remains high, at 98.8%, close to the previous session's 99.0%, highlighting the strong buying interest.
Grade-specific prices have stabilized after recent gains. Cardamom measuring 7 mm is priced between ₹2,250 and ₹2,300 per kg, while 7-8 mm grades range from ₹2,450 to ₹2,560 per kg. Premium grades, 8 mm and above, are trading between ₹2,760 and ₹2,880 per kg.
After trading within a narrow range for over ten sessions, prices have broken past their previous ceiling due to sustained demand. Market sources anticipate that prices will remain high in upcoming sessions as supply issues continue to challenge the market.
