Mumbai, 13 Nov (Commoditiescontrol): Kabuli chana prices remained stable in Indore mandis on Wednesday, even as container trade faced a sharp decline, pressured by subdued export demand. As per analysts export demand remains subdued due to higher domsestic prices as comapred to other international origins. Despite a lack of significant international buyer interest, mandi auction prices held firm due to reduced arrivals.
Across Madhya Pradesh, approximately 5,000 bags arrived, including 1,488 bags in Indore. Container prices in Indore declined by ₹200 across grades due to weak export demand, while mandi prices held between ₹12,000 and ₹14,100 per quintal with total arrivals of 2,512 bags.
In other markets, stability prevailed. The PKV2 Kabuli chana variety in Jalgaon saw no change, and Delhi prices also held firm. Meanwhile, Sudan-origin Kabuli chana traded at ₹7,000 per quintal in Mumbai.
Global Kabuli chickpea prices presented mixed trends last week. Mexican 12 mm chickpeas for Turkey remained steady at $1,850 per metric ton, consistent with the monthly average. Conversely, Russian 6-7 mm chickpeas for Pakistan rose by $20 to $690 per metric ton, marking a 3% increase on higher demand.
Looking ahead, analysts expect limited down side as wedding demand ramps up alongside preparations for Ramadan. Anticipated Ramadan-driven global demand could spark renewed export interest, providing added support to domestic prices.
