Mumbai, November 14 (Commodities Control): Chilly prices in key markets experienced varied trends, ranging from stable to slightly lower. In Khammam and Warangal, the price of Teja variety fell by ₹5 per kg, while prices in Guntur remained steady. Other varieties, such as 341 and Armour, saw a decrease of ₹5-10 per kg. For the past 8-10 sessions, prices have fluctuated between ₹130 and ₹170 per kg but have recently started trending lower, impacted by new crop arrivals.
Today, arrivals totaled 117,000 bags, down by 27,000 from the previous day. Guntur received 100,000 bags, a decrease of 20,000 from the prior session, while Khammam and Warangal reported arrivals of 10,000 and 7,000 bags, respectively, both down by 7,000 bags. Harvesting has begun in most growing areas, and expected rainfall in the next day or two could impact harvest speed and arrivals.
Local sources indicate that consumer demand remains cautious, which is helping to maintain price control. Early field reports suggest that while yields are higher this season, quality is slightly lower, and overall production may decline by 15-20%, though it is still early to confirm this estimate. As supplies continue to arrive, prices are expected to soften further in the coming sessions.
