Mumbai, 03 Dec (Commoditiescontrol):Following Karnataka and Maharashtra, new Tur (pigeon pea) arrivals have now started in select mandis of Madhya Pradesh. This development has added further downward pressure on the prices of old Tur stocks. On Tuesday, declining trends were observed in Tur prices from Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Nimar regions, while Tur dal prices remained stable.
According to traders, sporadic arrivals of new Tur have started in some mandis of Madhya Pradesh, following Karnataka and Maharashtra. A significant increase in arrivals is expected within the next 7-10 days. The anticipation of fresh supply has led to a dip in prices for old Tur stocks. Stockists are offloading their existing inventory, intensifying the selling pressure in the market. Currently, Karnataka and Maharashtra are witnessing daily arrivals of 20,000-22,000 bags of new Tur.
Market experts indicate that due to an increase in sown area, Tur production this year is likely to surpass last year's levels. With pipelines expected to fill soon, the pressure from upcoming arrivals could lead to further price weakness in the near future.
