Mumbai, December 4 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices stabilized after a sharp rise, supported by increased arrivals and sustained demand in the spot markets. Over the past six sessions, arrivals have consistently exceeded 1.0 lakh kilograms, putting downward pressure on prices as large farmers and stockists liquidate inventories.
Auction Highlights
- Average Price: ₹2,931–₹2,949 per kilogram, slightly lower than the previous session's ₹2,938–₹2,950.
- Maximum Price: ₹3,356 per kilogram, up from ₹3,253 in the prior session.
- Arrivals: 119,563 kilograms today, a marginal drop from 125,093 kilograms in the previous session.
- Offtake: Increased to 117,116 kilograms, up from 116,335 kilograms, with an impressive 97.9% of lots auctioned, signaling robust market demand.
Grade-Specific Prices
- 7 mm: ₹2,660–₹2,820 per kilogram
- 7-8 mm: ₹2,880–₹2,960 per kilogram
- 8 mm and above: ₹3,100–₹3,340 per kilogram
Despite strong arrivals, grade-specific prices remained stable for the second consecutive session. However, current price stability may give way to slight declines over the next 2–3 sessions, as arrivals continue to outpace demand in the short term.
While a near-term price dip is anticipated, the combination of limited domestic supply and lower imports is expected to exert upward pressure on prices in the medium term.
