New Delhi, December 5 (CommoditiesControl): Turmeric prices showed a mixed trend today, with some markets experiencing price drops while others saw increases. In Nizamabad, Warangal, and Kadapa, prices fell by ₹100-200 per quintal, while Erode and Basmatnagar markets saw price increases. The limited supply, caused by a lower crop in the previous season, has kept prices stable within a wide range over the past 18-20 sessions.

Market sources report that the crop is in good to excellent condition, with minimal weather anomalies. Harvesting is set to begin next month, which has prompted stockists to liquidate their inventories in anticipation of the new crop, while buyers are purchasing on a need-basis.

Arrivals totaled 8,330 bags today, down from 10,920 bags in the previous session, primarily due to lower arrivals in Nanded and Kadapa. Over the last 10-12 sessions, arrivals have ranged between 8,000 and 12,000 bags. Given the limited stock, arrivals are expected to remain low in the coming days until the new crop begins to arrive.

On the NCDEX, turmeric futures prices saw a decline, with the December contract dropping by ₹174 (1.3%) to ₹13,180 per quintal and the April contract falling by ₹76 (0.5%) to ₹14,250 per quintal. As the December expiration approaches, prices may remain range-bound in the coming sessions, with further downward pressure expected as new crop arrivals loom.
