New Delhi, December 5 (CommoditiesControl): Small cardamom prices displayed a mixed trend today, with some centers seeing stable prices while others experienced slight increases. Arrivals fell sharply to 66,341 kg, down from 119,563 kg in the previous session, marking the first drop below 1.0 lakh kg after 5-6 sessions. The supply shortage is attributed to crop failure, which has significantly reduced availability.
Auction prices ranged from ₹2,930 to ₹3,033 per kilogram, compared to the previous day's ₹2,931-2,949. The maximum price remained steady at ₹3,350 per kilogram, slightly lower than ₹3,356 reported earlier. Offtake decreased to 63,288 kg from 117,116 kg, with an offtake rate of 95.4%, down from 97.9% in the prior session but still strong.
Grade-specific prices held stable for the third session. Grades measuring 7 mm were priced between ₹2,660 and ₹2,820 per kg, grades 7-8 mm between ₹2,880 and ₹2,960, and grades 8 mm and above between ₹3,100 and ₹3,340.
In the North East, large cardamom prices remained elevated due to robust demand, rising by $50-100 per kg. Badadana was priced between ₹1,650 and ₹1,925 per kg, while Chotadana ranged from ₹1,500 to ₹1,650 per kg.
Market sentiment indicates prices are likely to remain stable to slightly high in the next few sessions. However, persistent supply constraints and limited imports are expected to drive prices higher in the near future.
