Mumbai, December 6 (Commodities Control): Chilly prices in Guntur's major markets remained stable to weak on Wednesday, with slight declines observed for certain varieties. Prices for the 334, 341, and 2043 varieties dropped by ₹5 per kg due to continued arrival pressure. In Warangal, prices also weakened, with Teja and Wonder Hot varieties falling by ₹5-₹7 per kg. Meanwhile, Khammam's markets remained closed for the day.
Sunny weather has helped maintain steady arrivals, though disturbances from the end of last week kept total weekly arrivals below 1 lakh bags. Market sources anticipate an increase in arrivals at the start of the next month as the weather remains dry.
Total arrivals stood at 77,000 bags, down 14,000 bags from the previous session. Guntur recorded arrivals of 70,000 bags, a decrease of 5,000 bags. Warangal arrivals were reported at 7,000 bags, 1,000 bags less than the prior session.
- Price Movement:
- Guntur: Prices for 334, 341, and 2043 varieties fell by ₹5 per kg.
- Warangal: Prices for Teja and Wonder Hot dropped by ₹5-₹7 per kg.
The recent rainy weather provided mild recovery in prices earlier, but as harvesting resumes, prices are expected to face downward pressure in the coming sessions. Dry conditions are likely to facilitate higher arrivals in the near term.
