Ahmedabad, December 07 (CommoditiesControl): Coriander arrivals in Gujarat have been steadily declining, however, the market has remained stable due to low demand.
The ongoing coriander sowing season is expected to result in a smaller cultivated area this year, with estimates suggesting a 15-20% decrease in sowing compared to last year. Government data shows that coriander was cultivated in 1.27 lakh hectares last year, while this year, the area is expected to reduce to around 1 lakh hectares.
Additionally, the carryover stock of coriander for the new season is likely to be low, with an estimated 5 to 7 lakh bags remaining in Gujarat.
Today, approximately 6,500 bags of coriander, each bag weighing 40 kg, arrived in Gujarat, with average prices recorded at Rs 1,370-1,570 per 20 kg.
