Ahmedabad, December 07 (CommoditiesControl): The cumin market in Gujarat saw a slight improvement today, driven by a rise in futures market on Friday. This led to a modest uptick in spot market prices as soon as trading began, with an increase of Rs 25 per 20 kg.
Traders indicated that there has been a lack of demand for cumin recently, which had caused prices to fall over the past few days. However, the positive movement in the futures market yesterday is now reflecting in the spot market. Due to the recent price drop, farmer selling has decreased, and the market is closely watching the upcoming reports on cumin sowing.
Today, around 7,000 bags of cumin arrived in the Unjha market. The prices in the spot market were as follows:
- Rough cumin: Rs 4,000-4,130 per 20 kg
- Best quality cumin: Rs 4,250-4,450 per 20 kg
- Bombay bold cumin: Rs 4,500-4,750 per 20 kg
In total, about 14,000 bags of cumin arrived across Gujarat today. In Gondal Mandi, cumin prices ranged from Rs 4,471 to Rs 4,771 per 20 kg, with 1,488 bags arriving. In Rajkot Mandi, around 1,300 bags arrived, with prices recorded between Rs 4,000 and Rs 4,550 per 20 kg.
