Ahmedabad, January 11 (CommoditiesControl): The coriander market in Gujarat remained stable today, with prices holding steady as traders are able to secure sufficient stock ahead of new arrivals.
According to traders, the coriander crop is expected to be strong in the new season. Gujarat is projected to produce around 35 to 40 lakh bags of coriander, while Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan combined are likely to yield 50 lakh bags. This brings the expected total coriander production across the country to around 90 lakh bags. Additionally, an overstock of approximately 40 lakh bags is anticipated.
The total coriander supply in the upcoming season is expected to reach 1.30 crore bags, while the annual domestic consumption and export demand range between 1.40 crore to 1.50 crore bags, indicating potential price increases in the near future. Currently, Gujarat is seeing an average arrival of 5,000 to 7,000 bags of coriander, although the demand stands at about 10,000 bags, leading to significant amounts of stock being cleared.
Today, around 5,750 bags, each bag weighing 40 kg, were received in Saurashtra. The average price for coriander in the state ranged from Rs 1,400 to Rs 1,600 per 20 kg.
In Gondal Mandi, 2,500 bags arrived, and trading occurred at Rs 1,540 to Rs 1,610 per 20 kg, with a total of 3,805 bags being traded. Rajkot Mandi saw 600 bags arriving, with trades occurring between Rs 1,060 and Rs 1,570. Junagadh Mandi received 1,500 bags, while Jetpur Mandi saw 350 bags, Jamjodhpur Mandi 350 bags, and other mandis received approximately 450 bags.
