Ahmedabad, January 11 (CommoditiesControl): The cumin market in Gujarat has remained sluggish for the past four days, with prices falling by Rs 200 per 20 kg during this period. Traders attribute the decline to low local and export demand, although the new season's cumin crop is expected to perform well. If the weather remains favorable, traders speculate that cumin prices could further decrease by around Rs 200 per 20 kg by February.

In Gujarat's cumin market, a continuous downward trend has been observed for the last three days, with prices dropping by Rs 150 per 20 kg during this time. The lack of significant demand and a sufficient supply of cumin for export has contributed to the price reduction. Market discussions suggest that farmers still hold approximately 20 lakh bags of cumin, and by the end of the season, around 3-4 lakh bags are expected to be traded. As a result, the carry-forward stock is projected to be around 16 lakh bags.

Today, around 7,000 bags, each bag weighing 55 kg, of cumin arrived in Unjha mandi. The price of rough cumin ranged from Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,100 per 20 kg, while the price for the best quality cumin was Rs 4,100 to Rs 4,250 per 20 kg. Bombay Bold cumin was priced between Rs 4,300 and Rs 4,450 per 20 kg. Overall, about 13,000 bags of cumin arrived across Gujarat.

In Gondal market, 892 bags arrived, with prices ranging from Rs 4,350 to Rs 4,560 per 20 kg. In Rajkot, around 2,200 bags arrived, and the price ranged from Rs 4,160 to Rs 4,415 per 20 kg.
